Christmas

Image
Well, Christmas good to me this year as my wife surprised me. It was the old "we are not getting each other gifts" trick this year. Needless to say she really out did herself this year with a whole new tablet from Verizon. It's a Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 and I have to say I absolutely, positively LOVE it. It's so much thinner, Lighter, and faster than my rooted Nook Color it's kind of insane. That and it's sexy to boot! That being said I've had a few days to tinker on the market and I've found an extremely near app for basic electronics. Here's the google play link .

Arduino - Android

Image
I think I'm going to try to connect my Nook Color (rooted with android 4.0 via n2a SD card) to an Arduino or atmega328P to do this I'm following the follow tutorials android to arduino: http://android.serverbox.ch/?p=549 arduino in C http://android.serverbox.ch/?p=394 I'm going to avoid using arduino programming software and stick to C/C++ in eclipse. Should help out. The toughest part will probably be programing the android as it requires the use of Java. We shall see.

We Won!

Image
Just a quick update. WE WON!! Yup, the contest was a success and our prize? A $50 gift card to Hy-Vee, Go us! I am actually pretty excited about this, I mean it was a bear of a project. Plus my wife is super competitive so she is happy as a clam now.

Circuit diagram program

I'm looking for a good circuit diagram program so I can start posting my circuits on here. I'm thinking this one looks good. http://circuitdiagram.codeplex.com/ I'll let you know if it works out.

Christmas Lights 2012 - IT'S DONE!

Image
haha, it works!!!!!! It's fantastic as well! Check it out! All this was started and completed in a 24 hour period for an Advanced Mechatronics class and our apartment complexes annual Christmas light show. It was a pain in the butt but we did it and our apartment has never looked better.  Many thanks go to my Wife for her wonderful help and support.

Xmas Prototype

Image
Phew!!! That was quite a bit of work to get a prototype working. Probably put like 5 hours into assembly. Anyways, here's your picture of a working prototype!!   And what you've all been waiting for (at least for this post). A working prototype!!!     And the youtube video for sharing: http://youtu.be/_MC7i9pnL-0

Christmas Light Time!!!

Image
Being mad scientist and all, how could I pass up the opportunity to create a Christmas light show! I believe I have all the supplies I need, 10x relays 25ft of power cord 10x power plugs Bundles and Bundles of lights Arduino Uno Rev3 That and a ton of supplies and know how. Lets Do This! More on this later as the night progresses.

Attiny Rover

Image
My Attiny13 controlled rover.     As you can see this turned into quite the interesting project. About the size of a deck of cards and about as minimalist as you can get, this rover pushed my skills just a little further. I love it, you should too. If you'd like I can post more about it, such as how to and what not. Just I'd probably have to make another one to explain how I did it. :P Let me know what you think.

First!

First! Haha, Ok, here it goes, First post and a little introduction. Name is Jacob Greenburg and I am currently a Mechanical Engineering Master's student. I work on many robotics and electronics projects ranging from rooting my Nook color, to more advanced topics such as AVR programming. These things and more in the Name of Science!  I have many interests and luckily enough my job keeps me learning and engaged everyday in these topics. I will try my best to keep this blog up to date about my current and past projects. Cheers! Jacob
